I wish Eric was physically here to see you in your Frank Nitty 50th year mode. God knows what's best because the two of you would have truly left your hand and foot print engraved on Phiłly's Walk of Fame. However, he'll be there in spirit because he's still your soulmate for your unforgettable performance you are about to leave on the Philadelphians. Our families go way back like Now&Laters and Quarter Waters (probably farther than that) but being the baby of the bunch, I just had the pleasure of meeting you and Shell as an adult almost 2 years ago. It's been nothing but love since then! I appreciate the 'shout outs' and 'check-ins' more than you know. I can't wait to celebrate such a blessed milestone with you later this year! The boy "Bob" aka the boy with the threads. Me and this boy go back like RW Brown(on 9th Street). It all started when he was aspiring to be a Professional Ping Pong Player lol I was a younger protegé. Through the years our friendship has remained firm and he has alway been a staple and gives heartbeat to life as friendship goes. Much more than a friend. It's been said that friends are family that we can choose for ourselves. Love this boy like a brother I never had. Even though I had to break the news to him that his Ping Pong Skills were modest and that I would be bringing home the gold. He submitted and supported me like a brother would. lol
Shawntal Miller, Talk about true friends to the core. I will try to capture in words the sentiments of my heart as I unveil how relevant Shawntal is and has been to me for the past 34 years. I hope I didn't tell her age you know how females can be about their age. lol I met Shawntal when I was 16 years of age, a young'n by many accounts. I quickly came to realize that Shawn which she is commonly called was by NO means common. At such a young age Shawn carried herself with incredible distinction that commanded your upmost respect and courtesy. Qualities that were at the core of her character. When I met her family Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and brother it was clear the origin of her behavior. As Shawn and I developed this inseparable bond her qualities became more and more evident, aside from the qualities I've already mentioned she was very smart a studious student and did I mention very attractive and had an acute eye for fashion. So, you see it was quite natural for us to bond. You know the saying "Birds of a feather; flock together." As we quickly befriended each other and shared many telephone conversations. At a time where two way lines were in the distant future. lol So, you would get a busy signal if you called either of our homes. lol Shawntal, was swept off her feet and has moved away to the Bahamas, she's been relocated for approximately 15 years now. Although, we don't see each other or even get to talk with one another, we remain besties through good and bad times even in the absence of communication. I know I can always count on her nomatter the circumstances or how long we last spoke to be honest with me in a caring, responsible, embracing kinda way. Relations like this are far and few in between, one I don't take for granted and will always embrace. Luv you always...RMA
Ronald A.Jones, the saga continues...frat, homie, brother, confidant, partner in crime lol Ron has been a dear friend since 1983 over 3 decades. As many of my other friends Ron and I met when we were starting careers as Soldiers. It sounds funny now describing it as a career because back then neither of us would've imagined doing 20 plus years as career Soldiers. We both were a piece of work. It was easy for us to bond because of our grass roots "The City of Brotherly Love" yup you have it (Philly). We both were avid competitors on the basketball court, had stylish taste in clothing and a relatively modest appeal to females lol
Ron has always been one who embraced our friendship, but also ensured it flourished. I appreciate the bond that we share and can always count on sound unbiased advice, nomatter the subject. I value it dearly because it's real and always has not only my best interest but my family interest as well. Ron, has changed his ways and he has become a Preacher...yup a Preacher! I couldn't be more proud of him and will always hold him near an dear to my heart. Love you boy...
Diane Thompkins, aka "cousin" Diane and I have been "cousins" for about 22years, where she holds some other titles as well like...dear friends, Aunti to my sons, mentor, confidant all of which I revere her to the highest regard possible. Diane has always been there not only for me but my entire family, to know her is to love her. Whether it's a shoulder to cry on, some advice on some significant issue or matter, through good and bad times she's there. She's so intouch...nomatter what it is. Did I mention she's ageless, fly and has it altogether. I am so thankful that she's apart of my family. Love you cousin... ;-)
Eric Wardell Utsey, Affectionally known as "My cousin"...How can I capture in words the value, the relations, the love, the memories that Eric and I shared. I'll try...from the very beginning it was kindred, SOULMATEish, (I know, I know) you're probably saying how can that be. Well, I describe it as that because it was that deep in our souls. It was seamless for Eric and I to come together...I mean without any work or effort. Just drawn together..that's it! I mean born the same exact day, liked the same things, same ideals, same goals for our families Genuinely, cared for each other, and respectfully anyone in either of our circles family or friend quickly saw that and shared the same emotion. Nomatter how long it had been since the last time we saw each other, it was reason to celebrate the occassion. Trust and believe we loved each other...I miss him dearly. It's bitter sweet that he is not here today, selfishly I want him to physically be here, but he's has NO more pain or disapointments to deal with so for that I am happy. Until we meet again "cousin" love you boy...
Michael Washington, aka "Black." Yup, here we go again...it's systemic. Mike and I met while serving in the US Military and is a long time dear friend, we have been friends for 17 years. Cut from the same cloth it was easy to bond. Real easy to start one, more difficult to keep one, we have the bond that's the thread to keep it all together. Mike has also been a tireless friend who has been there through the good and bad times. I value his friendship and honored to say I am his friend. Love you boy...
Robert Warren, aka "Crib." Rob is another one of my dearest friends who I have known just under 3 decades also. Rob is like my brother from another mother we just clicked from the beginning we lost touch for several years however our bond remained constant as he was always in my heart. Although, Rob is from DC and was primarily raised in Cali, with our closeness I feel like he's been with me my entire life. Thus the reason I call him "crib" because it feels like he's always been there. Love you boy...
Anthony Jackson, aka "Jamestown" ;-) My man...Jack ad I have been friends just under 3 decades and during this time this guy has been the perfect steward honoring our friendship at every chance. Yes, he's apart of the Fraternity that bonds us Verterans..a family that prays together; stays together. I am honored to be friends with him. Love you boy...
Arvin Rabb, need I say more ;-) This guy is as unique as his name. Rabb and I have been friends for just under 3 decades. Like Fred, Taj, Stan, Rabb and I also met while servng in the US Army see how this works...unity, fraternity, character embody our make up, the thread that keeps us bonded. This guy has unbelievable charisma, charm and swagg...yeah that Brooklyn NY kinda swagg lol. Just had this kindship of friendship since day one and been going strong every since. Love you boy...
Stanley Doyle, most would agree "the good guy" ;-) Stan is also one of my dearest and long standing friends who I also met while we served in the US Army. Stan has always received me with embracing arms and it's been a love affair ever since. Stan can always be counted on nomatter the circumstances... as a Husband, Father, Son, Sibling, Friend, Supervisor you just name it and you're in good hands and company. Did I say in the shopping world he's known as Mister Armani...this guy and his eye for fashion is more than noteworthy. I am honored to be friends with him, as the saying goes..."You are the company you keep." Love you boy..
Jeffrey George, affectionally known by me as "Taj." Taj is also one of my dearest and long standing friends who Ive been friends with for just about 3 decades. Like Fred I met Taj in the US Army where he initially was my supervisor. I largely attribute my skill set for being a Human Resources Maanger to him, he's very witty, thinks outside the box and can handle any personnel matter with professionalism and efficiency, all while balancing hard work, compassion, discipline and rewards with ease. His heart is as BIG as they come if he can help a friend it's already done! He has always been the consummate father and friend to his children, he has always been driven for their welfare and success. I am so thankful to have him as my friend and honored to be his. Love you boy...
Fred Clea, affectionally known as "I Got Hands." Fred is one of my dearest and long standing friends. Fred and I met in foreign seas while serving in the US Army and quickly related and bonded being from the same place Philly where we affectionally referred to each other as "Crib." It was easy for Fred and I to become friends because quickly I realized he was a genuine person, had a keen sense of fashion and always greeted me with a warm embrace. Fred has always been my Floyd Mayweather long before the modern day infamous Floyd Mayweather, during our time together overseas Fred took up the sport of Boxing just...the nick name " I Got Hands." Fred would stop opponents quickly 1st or 2nd rounds most times. It's been in his DNA every since. Fred has been received by my family as family and that's the way it's going to be. Love you boy...
My father who art in heaven (RIP Dad). Although my father is not here with me in the flesh, he has always been integral in my life instilling in me the model of a man and here today before you do I stand. My father gave me the sterling example of family and always working hard to take care of them and ensure they had what they needed. A strick disciplinarian help mold me to follow the rules. A no-nonsense kind of dude that not only was content but happy putting in a hard days work for his family. His family was his heart and soul. You will always be present in my life dad. Love you...
Words cannot express the love and gratitude I have for my mother. My mother has always been a pilliar in my life to emulate, she's firm, did I say firm lol, loves unconditionally and is always selfless, an exceptional manager, very responsible. From the very beginning of my life my mother has been there for me, her love has been constant and unwavering. I can't imagine my life without her care, guidance, strength, encouragement and most of all her love. Once I created a family of my own, she extended the same love to them as she had raised me. I attribute the person I am today to her and my father (may he rest in peace) I love her with all my heart.
Wow! What an amazing sister I have in Angel. I love her enormously, she embodies all the right things. Not just a sister, but a true friend, one that can be counted on in good and bad times.
A God fearing woman who is a TRUE servant of the lord. I am so very proud of her and the model she represents. Oh did I say my sister is a scholar a studious student and has been all her life, she is very accomplished and has a couple few degrees and has held serveral prominent positions as an Educator in the Philadelphia Schools system leading up to Principal. Although, I don't get to see her as much as I would like or tell her I love her enough she makes me proud to say I am her brother, I thank God for her everyday. I love you Angel
My sister Crystal....what can I say. I love this girl to death also. Cris has always been on the cutting edge. Cris was going to break through and do it her way ;-) She has always had her head on straight, focused on getting it done! Cris, has always been a dear friend and my youngest sibling. I am so proud of the woman, sister, daughter, professional and mother that she has become. The love that we share...gives TRUE meaning to the words; until death do we part. I thank God for her also every single day. I love you Cris...
A soldier in her own right. Although, I wore the uniform and served the country near and abroad, both as a partriot and the leader of my family. My wife is a real Soldier who has time and time again weathered many challenges, adversities and just the coarse things that life can throw at you . Started at the bottom and now she HERE! She has given birth to our incredible sons can't deny one of the most significant and miricle things a woman can do, is give birth to a man's sons.
She is a testiment to the man I have become, she help also mold me to the man I have become. I know at times I've failed miserably at professing my love, but I continued trying. Shell, has this unique abilty of blending hardship, discipline, hardwork, perserverance and Love and make it seem effortless. We've had our share of good and bad times...we got THIS! Let the good times roll and if by chance we have some challenges we're weathered...Let's GO! I love you...
Malik, affectionally know as "Freaky." lol I'm just saying it didn't come from me lmbo. From the time Malik was a small child he had this infectious spirit of joy about him that would appeal to all that he came in contact with, he was a very happy kid. Always smiling ;-) Always the good son, Malik was very receptive to Shell and I teachings and instructions, rarely (almost never) did Malik have to receive discipline. Following in my footsteps Malik developed interest in basketball and was a quick study of the game. He quickly became a fierce competitor on the courts which led to him leading his High School (Prince Georges High of Prince Georges VA) to the Championship and the number 1 ranking in the entire state of VA. Malik received many accolades for playing basketball to includes the schools "All Time Leading Scorer," that still stands today. My son Malik is as kool as they come, nothing seems to rattle him (nothing) always calm, kool and collected. I wonder where he gets that from. lol I love you son...
Malil, affectionally known as "ill Lil." Now, I know the origin of Malil's nick name...he didn't get his from me either lol He was given that name because of his electricfying moves on the Basketball court I'm told ;-) Ever since Malil was a small child he was a quiet, reserved kinda guy and like his brother Malik did not get into trouble very receptive and obedient to his mother and I. As his brother, Malil is a very likeable guy and people genuinely like being around him and constantly tell me you have a very nice and respectable son. As siblings usually do, the younger following in his dad and brother footsteps took an interest in backetball also. Just as his brother, he was a quick study. Despite his small stature Malil woud clearly stand out because of his skill set and went on to receive many accolades playing Varsity Basketball in HIgh School behind the reputation of his elder brother. As I eluded to with my son Malik, Malil is as kool as the other side of the pillow...this boy CTHU. To know me and to see him...sheez! I'm going to just say swagg lol Gotta love him. Love you son....
MIke, affectionately know by me as "Nephew." Although, my travels have been many and I did not get to be around and see my nephew as much as I would've liked. He was and is always with me. I have this vivid memory of a picture I took with him as a infant bearly one month old, the smallest little thing you can imagine in the palm of my hands.
And to seem him today as a young man standing 6' 2" weighing a modest 260 lbs, fills my heart with joy and pride just to watch his maturation. The bond my nephew and I share is priceless to me. I still don't get the opportunity to see him that much but when we do see each other the embrace is serile and warms my heart enormously. I know you don't normally refer to a love one as the "favorite" but I'm going to have to get a pass on this one...after all it's my birthday; he's my favorite nephew ;-) I love you....
Miss Amirah Moore captured our hearts from the moment she was born. It was a relatively easy choice for Shell's long time friend Kiana to choose Shell and I as her God Parents. As Shell and KIana became inseparable friends and she valued the parents we were to our own children. It has been a joy and honor to be her God Parents as she has grown through the years into a respectable, loving and caring god daughter. Our roles have taken on an increasingly responsibility as her father Troy Moore was tragically killed. Our mentoring and coaching has taken new meaning, one we embrace and my wife often reminds me is very necessary. Love you Amirah...
Miss Brooklyn Moore, what can I say about little miss lady. Just as her sister Amirah she captured our hearts from the moment she arrived. But; it seemed she had already been here before as she was just ahead of herself at every turn. Brooklyn and her sister Amirah are inseparable you will not find one without the other truly sibling luv...I luv it ;-) It gives Shell & I great joy help molding her and her sister to becoming fine young ladies. It keeps our hearts and spirits young and a responsiblity I would not want to relenquish. Brooklyn Frank Frank luv you...
I was born in Philadelphia, PA on 2 October 1964 to John and Bernestine Carter. I grew up in North Philadelphia, PA. and I have two younger sisters the eldest Sophia and younger Crystal. I am married to the incomprable Mrs. Michelle D. Cartér, although sometimes I have failed miserably to show my love; I love her dearly. From our union we have two fine young men Malik 29, and Malil 26, who I am proud of and love with all my heart until DEATH do we part. I am a 23 year Veteran of the United States Army where I enjoyed a career as a Human Resources Manager. I earned my undergraute degree in Business Management in May 2002, from Trinity University and College. I currently work as a Human Resource Manager with the US Federal Government.
For the most part I am pretty mello fellow as my dad use to say to me and I think I have a keen sense of humor and love comedy, it's a resource to fuel the core of my soul. I truly believe in live, love and laugh to the fullest. I am a modest fashion guy who can appreciate quality clothier. I am also passionate about basketball, Spoken Word and have been known to win a few Ping Pong Championship (Check the archives) lol I am so greatful for my life, my family and my friends; I thank God for his never yielding grace and blessings.
